Two staff members from Bethesda Lutheran Homes and Services, Inc. have been selected to represent the state of Wisconsin at the 2007 Nurse Aide Skills Review and Standard Setting Meeting in Bala Cynwyd, Penn., April 24-27, 2007.

Tammy Mandel, Registered Nurse and Alex Atkinson, Lead Supportive Living Assistant, both from Bethesda’s Watertown location, will be working with Subject Matter Experts (SME’s) from across the country to review, modify and set passing standards for the skills portion of the National Nurse Aide Assessment Program (NNAAP) examination. The Department of Health and Family Services (DHFS,) along with Promissor, the leading provider for licensing examinations for state and federal regulatory bodies in the United States, nominates nursing professionals as SMEs to represent several states.

“The Promissor’s Test Development Department will actually facilitate the meeting, which includes eight to twelve SMEs from other states,” says Mandel. “We will work to assure and set a standard level of competency for Certified Nurse Assistants (CNAs) that can be used nationwide.”

“I am honored and proud to have two representatives from Bethesda at this meeting,” adds Susan Seibert, Quality Enhancement Director for Bethesda’s North Central Region. “Tammy and Alex are prime examples of what Bethesda defines as quality staff. By attending this meeting they have the opportunity to impact the framework of CNA instruction across the nation.”
