Rochester, Minn. (June 30, 2008) - Bethesda Lutheran Homes and Services, Inc. has awarded a scholarship to Justin Collopy, a recent graduate of Century High School. Collopy received this scholarship due, in part, to the volunteer work he has done with individuals who have developmental disabilities.

To qualify for this scholarship, applicants must be active members of a Lutheran church, achieve a junior or senior level status in high school, obtain a minimum 3.0 grade point average, and be interested in pursuing a career in the field of developmental disabilities.

For the last four years, Collopy has volunteered at Camp Matz, a camp geared toward individuals with developmental disabilities, located in Watertown, Wis. Collopy also works as an aide at Discover Magical Moments Day Care and volunteers at his church, Redeemer Lutheran Church.

In addition to his work and volunteer obligations, Collopy plays soccer and is a member of Honors Yearbook and the Boy Scouts. In the future, he hopes to earn a degree in elementary education and eventually become a Director of Christian Education (DCE).
