Bourbonnais, Ill. (July 1, 2008) - Bethesda Lutheran Homes and Services, Inc. has awarded a scholarship to Sarah Wolford, a sophomore at Olivet Nazarene University. Wolford received this scholarship due, in part, to the volunteer work she has done with individuals who have developmental disabilities.

To qualify for this scholarship, applicants must be active members of a Lutheran church, achieve at least a sophomore level status in college, obtain a minimum 3.0 grade point average, and be interested in pursuing a nursing career in the field of developmental disabilities.

Wolford is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing and expects to graduate in 2010. Throughout her college and high school career, Wolford has taken time to volunteer, specifically with those who have developmental disabilities.

“I chose a career in nursing,” she says, “because I want to actively be involved in making a difference in others lives.”

In addition to being active in her home parish, Wolford also worked at DC Mission Camp, a special needs camp, and for S.O.S., a mission group that works with inner city children.
