Winthrop, Minn. (June 30, 2008) - Bethesda Lutheran Homes and Services, Inc. has awarded a scholarship to Marcie Flygare, a recent graduate of Minnesota Valley Lutheran High School. Flygare received this scholarship due, in part, to her various work and volunteer commitments.

To qualify for this scholarship, applicants must be an active member of a Lutheran church, achieve a junior or senior level status in high school, obtain a minimum 3.0 grade point average, and be interested in pursuing a career in the field of developmental disabilities.
Flygare is currently a Personal Care Attendant (PCA) at Golden Home Care Plus where she plans to continue to work as she earns her college degree.
“As I progress,” Flygare says, “I plan on working for Golden Home Care as a PCA. Eventually, I want to open my own business that helps children with developmental disabilities.”
In addition to her work, Flygare was also active in her high school where she was on the honor roll, captained her volleyball team and participated on the Student Council.
Flygare also keeps busy volunteering with the Bernadotte 4-H club, teaching at Vacation Bible School and coaching youth volleyball and soccer.
