Gifts of stock can be donated to the Bethesda Lutheran Home Foundation, Bethesda Lutheran Homes and Services, Inc.
What are the benefits of giving stock?
With a gift of stock you can:
- Receive a charitable deduction for your gift
- Receive a lifetime income from your gift
- Possibly avoid all of the capital gains taxes associated with your stock
How do I make a gift of stock?
You can make your gift of stock electronically or with a certificate. Either way, please be sure to inform us and your broker (if applicable) of your gift either through a letter of intent or by submitting the following information via email. [Download letter format]
- Your name and the name of your spouse (if stock is held jointly)
- Your complete address
- The name(s) and specific number of shares of securities you wish to give to Bethesda
- Who you want to receive your gift - Bethesda Lutheran Homes and Services, Inc. or the Bethesda Lutheran Home Foundation, Inc.
How to make a gift of stock electronically
Provide your broker with the following information to complete an electronic transfer of stock:

How to make a gift of stock when you have the certificate
If you have stock certificates in your possession, sign a stock power form for each certificate you hold. Please do not sign the back of the stock certificate. [Download a Stock Power form]
Mail the stock power form and your unendorsed certificate(s) in separate envelopes by registered mail to:
