About the Program
Foster Grandparents is a federally funded program designed to provide personal attention, tenderness and love to children with developmental disabilities who live in residential settings. Bethesda's Watertown, Wis. Campus has participated in this program since 1972.
The Role of a Foster Grandparent
Each Foster Grandparent works with two children a day, and spends two hours with each child doing activities such as going to chapel, taking walks, playing games, going on field trips, or reading a story.
In return, Foster Grandparents receive a tax-free stipend to cover the cost of transportation, meals while on duty, an annual physical examination and supplemental accident and liability coverage while serving.
Perhaps most importantly, by enriching the lives of the children they help, Foster Grandparents enrich their own lives
