The Announcement of Truth
It is always so exciting to get an announcement about a new birth. Have you ever seen one? They usually arrive in the mail and look something like this:
Announcing: A New Baby Boy
Born on: December 1, 2004
At: Sister's Hospital
Time: 5:53 p.m.
Height: 21 inches
Weight: 8lbs. 7oz.
Usually the announcement will mention the parents' or siblings' names, letting us all know who the child belongs to as well. What an awesome gift to that family and group of friends!
We wonder about the child. Will he be healthy? Will he grow strong? Will he do great things? As parents, family and friends, we all hope and pray for these answers to be positive.
A new beginning - a new start - all to happen in his own little corner of the world.
In Bethlehem, the shepherds received an announcement of a similar kind found in Luke 2:11.
Luke 2:11
“For unto you is born this day in the city of David, a Savior which is Christ the Lord!”
Now that's an announcement!
This child was born unto all of us! We are all part of the family of Christ! He was born into this world for the world. Not only that, but He is the Savior which is Christ the Lord! The announcement couldn't have been clearer.
He is here!
He is among us!
He is here for us!
He came to die for us!
A promise has been fulfilled!
At this Christmas time our main focus should be as simple and true as the announcement of the angels. The gift of a Savior is the one and only gift that matters because He is Christ the Lord!
Dear Lord, Bless us today as we celebrate the announcement of truth about our Savior. Help us to be thankful for the only gift that matters - Your Son. Amen.
