Community Living

Picking out carpet.

People actively participate in decorating and caring for their homes.

Bethesda's community living opportunities are homes and apartments that look a lot like other homes in the neighborhood. They offer opportunities for privacy, independent activities and friendships.

Homes

Our community living homes are separate from sites where other Bethesda-sponsored activities, such as education or work, occur and are accessible to needed community resources. The homes are specialized according to the particular needs of the persons living in them and staffed according to the nature or function of each person.

Apartment Living and In-Home Support

For some people, apartment living is the answer for their need for more privacy. With only one or two roommates, people with developmental disabilities choose the level of support they need to remain as independent as possible. This might mean 24-hour support or only a few hours of support per week.
