Campers enjoy a craft project (above) and a quiet talk (below) at Camp Matz.

Each summer Camp Matz is the site of 12, week-long Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod Servant Events. Located on a beautiful wooded site on the southwest edge of Bethesda's campus in Watertown, Wis., Camp Matz is staffed by trained developmental disabilities service professionals.

The Experience

Camp Matz provides a unique outdoor campground that is fully accessible to people with developmental disabilities. Camp Matz has:

  • cabins equipped with showers and other amenities
  • a main lodge complete with kitchen
  • paved hiking trails through a scenic, wooded area
  • a zero-depth water attraction site
  • an outdoor chapel area
